21-04-2026 Tuesday English Activity – ‘Grammar Auction’
The activity conducted on 21st April was a grammar auction. In ‘Grammar Auction’, groups of students are given some imaginary money ($1000) at the beginning of each round. Five sentences are shown to the students, with only some of them being correct. They have to decide within their group whether the sentences are correct. Then, they need to “buy” the correct sentences. The team which “buys” the most correct sentences or has the most money left wins the round. The game emphasizes respect for others since all students can bid on a sentence equally. There is also an element of empathy within the game since students can feel the disappointment of the other students who bid on incorrect sentences.
