12-05-2026 Tuesday English Activity – ‘Broken Telephone’

The name of the game on 12th May, 2026 was Telephone (also known as Broken Telephone). During the game, students have to whisper a message to each other down the line. Often the message gets mixed up in humorous ways. The game helps show how small misconceptions can end up making a huge difference. The messages are mostly simple tongue twisters such as “five fresh fish for you”, and a few simpler ‘Sayings of Wisdom’ such as “Reading brings us unknown friends” (from Honoré de Balzac) or “All for one and one for all, united we stand divided we fall” (from Alexandre Dumas, The Three Musketeers). The ‘Telephone’ game promotes not only unity since the students must work as a unit to get the message across, but also diligence since they must keep trying till the message has been received.
